P.E and physical activity play a very important part in the school lives of pupils here at Cleves, our children have access to a minimum of two hours of high quality P.E, sport and physical activity each week.
In these sessions the pupils take part in a wide variety of sporting activities including those of a competitive nature and team-based sports. Here at Cleves we believe that, given opportunities to take part in a range of high quality PE activities, children will develop the life skills of team-work, resilience, meeting challenges and setting high aspirations for themselves. We employ a full-time sports coach to ensure that our sports provision is of the very highest quality.
Sport and physical activity at Cleves has been graded as “Outstanding” by OFSTED who commented that we are leading the way with our inclusive and sensory PE sessions. Her Majesty’s Inspectorate will even use footage from our PE lessons to help train OFSTED inspectors.
Cleves have also been awarded the Gold quality mark from the Sainsbury’s School games initiative and a Silver quality mark from the Youth Sport Trust, This has helped our school achieve the ‘Healthy Schools’ status.
We are actively developing links with other schools through inter-schools sports competitions. These links are further developed through our sport partnership with Cumberland Secondary School.
Here at Cleves we also run a range of after-school clubs including football, netball, Table Tennis, Kids-fit, Martial arts and fun sports to promote exercise participation, creativity and healthy living. We employ coaches to provide specialist training in specific sports and we provide a variety of high quality equipment to engage and support all of our pupils.
