Humanities

Children in years 1 to 6 have two humanities lessons per week; the lessons are focused enquiry and skilled based where children have the opportunity to investigate artefacts, resources and maps to help them build an array of skills.

This is an exciting year for humanities as our enhanced curriculum brings opportunities in history for children to learn about historical events in London, England and the Ancient World. The children have the opportunity to learn about different events in history and use artefacts and resources to broaden their skills and understanding of the topic.

Our geography curriculum explores London and the rest of the UK and makes comparisons with other countries around the world. The children also have the opportunity to understand our world, the natural wonders and the climate and the impact this has in our future.

Given our close proximity to central London we take every opportunity to enrich our curriculum with visits to the many museums and galleries London offers. We also organise workshops, music and theatre groups to support learning.
