Year 3 News of the Day

This week Year 3 have been investigating different types of soil and finding out what it is made from. The children used magnifying glasses to look closely at the soil and discovered snail shells, dead leaves, twigs, pieces of decomposed fruit, dead insects, small rocks and hair!  Here are some close-up pictures and samples we collected by using cello tape. Look closely. Can you see the hair? Which animal or insect do you think it belongs to? You can have a go too. Look very closely at the soil sample below.
