At Cleves we are very fortunate to have a specialist music teacher, who supports pupils with the development of specific music skills while contributing to the promotion of cultural capital. This involves providing pupils with opportunities to explore and appreciate diverse musical traditions, genres, and styles. Our curriculum aims to nurture pupils’ musical abilities, including key skills such as rhythm, melody, and harmony, while fostering creativity and expression.
Lessons are designed to enhance the depth of musical education, guiding pupils in understanding the intricacies of music and its cultural significance. We strive to cultivate a well-rounded musical education that enriches pupils’ cultural awareness and equips them with musical skills and appreciation.
Additionally, our music curriculum is inclusive of all pupils and seeks to encourage active participation in music-making, whether through singing, playing instruments, or engaging in collaborative musical activities. It emphasises the development of critical listening skills thus enabling pupils to analyse and appreciate various musical compositions.
Furthermore, the Cleves curriculum includes opportunities for pupils to showcase their talents and accomplishments, building a sense of pride and accomplishment. Our goal is to not only impart musical knowledge and skills but also to instil a lifelong appreciation for the arts and contribute to the pupils’ overall cultural development.
